I didn’t even remember to post my annual “Holiday Break” post. I’ll be closed for the 2011 Holiday until January 4th! Any emails, text messages and phone calls will be returned at that time. :)
It’s been a whirlwind of a year. I’ve experienced tremendous growth in 2011. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most precious clients in Midland/Odessa. I still pinch myself when I think about it: this is MY business. I’ve grown it from nothing…to all of this. I’ve re-designed my office/studio this year. It’s everything I imagined it would be. I just can’t find the words to express how grateful I am. Along with the joys of a growing business, I’ve had some growing pains. I had a few moments when my business was simply growing faster than I could keep up with it. I feel like I came out of each of those growing pains as a smarter, more resilient person and small business. I counted only 7 days in which I did not work…this *whole* year. That’s just crazy! Weekends, weekdays, holidays…I replied to an email, answered a phone call, checked on an order, edited a gallery, or booked an appointment every day this year with the exception of our summer vacation. { And that’s because my husband had to force me to turn off my phone! } I never knew owning my own business would be so taxing. Luckily, I have a supportive family and friends. With that, I’m excited for the next 2 weeks of spending time with the ever-supportive family and friends that make my world so beautiful.
So, what’s coming up in 2012? LOTS. OF. CHANGE. I’m pretty much giving the whole operation a face-lift. In order to accommodate to my growing client base, I’m changing up my portrait packages, offering more of what’s in demand. That’s right…I’m going to start selling digital collections to coordinate with my canvas and specialty collections. It’ll definitely be a big transition from the “boutique style” operation I am currently running. I think it’ll be a turn for the best, though. In this fast-paced world, people want “easy” and I’m all about making it easy on my guys and girls. I haven’t worked out all of the numbers and logistics yet, but I can’t wait to have a full blog post on the new collections! It’s quite the exciting adventure!
I want to thank all of my 2011 clients for giving me the opportunity to share my art. Cheers to 2012! Have a wonderfully Merry Christmas and New Year!
With love, Erica.

Woohoo!! I have completed the major part of my work for 2012. Holy moly. What a crazy year it was. Anyway, my poor children have had to endure the majority of this Christmas season without their mother to do fun holiday activities with them, without a house filled with Christmas decor and cheer, and a present-less Christmas tree! We fixed that though. I’ve started decorating, shopping, wrapping presents and planning this last week’s Christmas activities. :)))
If you know me, you know I’m not a traditionalist. So, naturally, I didn’t want traditional Christmas wreaths. I found this idea on { the ultimate evil } Pinterest. Here’s what you need:
- green foamy rings (found in the greenery section at your local craft store)
- yarn…and lots of it. I wound up using 4 bundles of yarn for my 3 wreaths. Choose your colors. The sky is the limit on this project!
- felt and a hot glue gun for the felt flowers and yarn pom-poms.
I did one large and 2 small. Be prepared to spend a good 6 hours on this project! It was much more time-consuming that I thought it would be. The trick is to wrap your yarn around the rings without overlapping the yarn too much. Otherwise, it just looks messy and uneven. I also begun using these wreaths as Christmas card holders! Fun!

We bought new Christmas stockings too. I wanted something a little less flashy and a little more basic for our mantle decor, this year.

I’ll have more pictures of our holiday fun to come. We have so much blogging to do, it’s unreal. This week, though, I’ll have my face out of the computer and my mind on making this Christmas fun and special for my family! Have a wonderful week-before-Christmas!

Your new wreaths look fantastic – I especially love the rose and pom pom combo. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
I had to take a break for some comic relief. This is beyond funny. I love JibJab!

Had an issue with my computer earlier that set me behind about 4 hours. Really? Why now? Why not a slow time…well, I’m never slow anymore…but this is definitely the busiest Christmas rush to date. Too busy to have technical difficulties! This season is kicking my tush. Anyway, this was from a few weeks ago but it came to mind when I decided to make a quick update.

Time to hit the sack for now. Morning will be her before I know it. P.S. IT’S SNOWING in Midland, TX. This is huge…
